Ghosts by Henrik Ibsen, Michael Meyer, Non Worrall - 9780713686753
Experience Ibsen's powerful and realistic play, "Ghosts," a stinging satire on society and morality that continues to shock audiences over a century later. This paperback edition delves into the lingering poison of a marriage built on lies, as Osvald Alving returns home with a dark secret, and his mother's joy turns to horror. Discover a thoroughly modern and provocative work that challenged conventions upon its 1881 premiere. This edition features a compelling translation by Michael Meyer, praised for its vital pace and poetic center. "Meyer's translations of Ibsen are a major fact in one's general sense of post-war drama. Their vital pace, their unforced insistence on the poetic centre of Ibsen's genius, have beaten academic versions from the field" - George Steiner, The New Statesman.
