Music On Vinyl Unisex Black The Church Starfish - 180 Gram Vinyl Uk Vinyl Lp Album Record Movlp901 2014 Audiophile
THE CHURCH Starfish (Limited Edition 2014 UK/EU 10-track LP pressed on 180-gram Black Vinyl. Originally released in 1988 Starfish is anchored by "Under the Milky Way," one of the most recognisable songs of the era, and one builtalmost by accident: Steve Kilbey wrote it with then-girlfriend Karin Jansson on an out-of-tune piano, and the rest of the band reportedly disliked the track when he brought it in, unconvinced it belonged on the record at all. Its famous instrumental solo, often mistaken for bagpipes, is actually a Synclavier sample of "African bagpipes" played in reverse, chosen by Kilbey simply as the strangest sound available. The song reached number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remains The Church's best-known recording. The album, recorded in Los Angeles with producers Greg Ladanyi and Waddy Wachtel, also includes "Reptile" and features mandolin from David Lindley on "Antenna."
