Central to the band's identity was Gerry Rafferty, whose melodic sensibility and songwriting clarity would later fuel one of the most successful solo careers of the decade. Following the band's dissolution in 1975, Rafferty emerged as a major solo artist, scoring international hits with Baker Street, Right Down The Line, Night Owl and Get It Right Next Time.
